The Role
& DepartmentThe new laboratory facilities manager is based in Ballerup and supports Genmab’s innovative products by enabling release and stability testing according to ICH guidelines. You will have great impact on shaping working culture and laboratory capabilities meanwhile taking responsibility on your daily tasks.
This position is responsible for the oversight of laboratory management at our QC laboratories in Copenhagen within Genmab.
As Laboratory Facility Manager you would ensure the efficient and effective day-to-day management of lab operations which includes Lab safety, lab operations, lab logistics, equipment life cycle management and other enabling services for the laboratory. You will also work closely with facilities and the other global lab management team leaders. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational agility, the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects, and a demonstrated drive for results and has knowledge and experience in running a laboratory in the GMP environment.
The position reports to the Vice President, Head of Global Lab Management in NL and you will work very closely with the Head of QC lab in Ballerup, Denmark.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage laboratory supplies ordering and receival of goods.
- Maintain vendor relationships for laboratory supplies, maintain inventory levels for lab consumables.
- Point person in enabling new equipment purchases, implementation and decommissioning, removal of obsolete or unnecessary equipment, in close collaboration with IT, Facility management and laboratory personnel.
- Management of the process for equipment monitoring.
- Maintain full equipment inventory, maintenance plans and maintenance logs in Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) in close collaboration with IT system owner and LIMS super users.
- Create work instructions for equipment in Genmab’s documentation system.
- Set specifications for laboratory safety according to legal and regulatory rules.
- Conduct safety inspections with EHS, escalate any safety concerns such as PPE issues and/or unsafe work practices.
- Present overall laboratory infrastructure health updates in weekly department meetings in close collaboration with Facilities Management.
- Set guidelines for laboratory etiquette, create safety trainings and ensure compliance in collaboration with management.
- Ensure that general use lab items not monitored by third party services are in adequate supply such as dry ice, CO2, laboratory coats.
- Manage general laboratory and facility-related work requests including renovation and new construction projects to ensure an excellent operating laboratories facilities.
- Ensure appropriate permits are in place.
- Oversee laboratory management budget planning.
Requirements:
- A minimum of a Bachelor's or Master’s Degree as Lab Technician or Scientist in a relevant field.
- 7 years of previous experience in related area, with at least 3-5 years’ experience in working in GMP laboratory environment.
- It would be preferred to have experience with equipment validation in a GMP environment.
- Strategic mindset to engage with alternative suppliers during shortages and adapt new recovery plans.
- Enthusiasm, willingness to learn, hands-on mentality, strong work ethic and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
This role is located in Copenhagen/Ballerup and is an onsite role.
