Internship at Café, Hostel and NGO-house

We are looking for interns year-round who want to focus on service management, events and tourism while helping run and develop a vibrant café, hostel and NGO-house in Copenhagen with exciting partners and guests from all over the world.

You become part of the Social Entrepreneurship Team, which together with 150 volunteers hosts around 200 events. Furthermore, we have about 20.000 visitors a year in Globalhagen hostel, cafe and NGO-House. The NGO-house hosts 15 organizations and are also a hub for meetings and conferences for other organisations. The teams' various units work together as a team and divide the responsibilities according to interest, qualification and development goals.

Learning, Responsibility and Tasks as an Intern

The internship can be centred around one or more of these main areas:

1. Hostel administration:  

You will be part of the daily hostel-team, who works with everything around bookings, guests, and activities in the hostel.

Your tasks will be including:

Working in the reception 15 hours per week Administrative tasks such as making bookings, answer guest emails and messages Update online booking portals Update our internal booking-system, Picasso Yield management Revenue management Improve and implement procedures

2. Service management:

Help manage the hostel and meeting and conferences-facilities.

Your tasks will be including:

Working in the reception 15 hours times per week Create memorable experiences and events for our guests Keeping guests updated on events happening around town and in our café by sending out a weekly newsletter Analyze guest-reviews and implement improvements.

3. Volunteer- and event coordination:

Organizing and executing events in Café Mellemrummet.

Doing economy once a week for Café Mellemrummet Helping the coordinator with ad hoc tasks related to Volunteer- and Event coordination Taking shifts in the café occasionally

4. Digital Communication:

You will get the opportunity to help produce, update and develop our online channels (website, facebook-page and external booking profile).

Improve Globalhagens online presence Develop innovative ways of interacting with our guests through online channels and our facilities Be in charge for Globalhagens social media and online portals Optimizing business performance Working in the hostel reception 15 hours per week

5. Internship in Globalhagen House

Dansk:
Som praktikant i Globalhagen House står du for at servicere vores brugere af mødelokaler og kontorpladser. Dagen starter med klargøring af lokaler, opdatering af dagens mødeoversigt samt modtagelse af eksterne gæster. I løbet af dagen står du for booking af lokaler og forplejning, besvarelse af e-mails samt forsendelse af bekræftelser og fakturering. Du arbejder tæt sammen med resten af Social Entrepreneurship teamet, har daglig kommunikation med vores kokke og øvrige personale og lejere i Mellemfolkeligt samvirke. Det er vigtigt at du taler og skriver dansk for at komme i betragtning til denne praktikstilling.

Engelsk:
As an intern in Globalhagen House you are responsible for our internal and external meeting room guests and renters of our office spaces. Your workday starts with checking up on our meeting facilities and welcoming our external meeting guests. During the day you will replay to booking e-mails, send confirmation letters and do invoicing. You will co-operate with the rest of Social Entrepreneurship team and be in daily dialogue with our kitchen staff and the renters of our office spaces. It is important that you speak and write Danish to be considered for this internship.

It is important to us that you as an intern learn as much as possible. You will get the opportunity to have independent responsibilities with relevant support from the senior team members. You will also regularly meet with your intern supervisor, so we together can make sure that your learning will be as valuable and focused as possible.

Regarding the Hostel in particular:

For each intern at Globalhagen Hostel it’s mandatory to take hostel shifts 15 hours per week. The other days your shifts will be in the office, where you have workspace for your specific internship area and projects and where you work closely together with the team and your supervisor. This assures that you will get completely comfortable with the importance of all the different aspects of running a social business and you will learn how to combine creative work, theory and planning with hands on tasks.

Qualifications  

You are studying a relevant education and it is a plus if you:

Are outgoing with an interests in meeting and talking to a lot of people from both Action Aid Denmark and many other organizations  Have experience with organising and coordinating events  Have experience working with volunteers  Have an interest in creating dialogue and activity in an environment with special focus on young people, education and social change  Have the drive to be part of a social business, and help create proceeds that goes to the fight against poverty 

Your Colleagues 

You will be an important player in the Social Entrepreneurship team of 10 persons, consisting of permanent staff, student helpers and interns who together manage activities together with our fantastic volunteers.
