Your challenges

Joining as our new Automation Programming Engineer you will be a part of a DevOps team working on developing and maintaining our VELUX IIoT Platform, working according to Scrum principles in 2 week sprints. The DevOps Team is a cross-functional, agile team with colleagues from a variety of backgrounds placed in different departments across our European locations.

Our platform is a combination of open source cloud technologies and internally developed tools for connection machines gathering data in the VELUX production facilities. The platform is global and is used and in different production areas across multiple countries.

Your main responsibility will be to develop new PLC functionality for our internally developed PLC interface, and aid other automation programmers both internally and externally in implementing these functions. You will also have the possibility to play with technologies like MQTT, GitHub, Kafka, NodeRed, Grafana, Python, Java and more.

The goal is that you will become an expert in how to connect machines with the platform, and others will come to you for guidance.

You will travel to our production sites and visit our external vendors to assist them in implementing our requirements. Therefore, you shall expect approximately 25 travel days per year, mainly within Europe.

At least two to three days every week you will work physically in our offices in Skjern next to our factory, while depending on where you live you can be working from e.g. Skjern, Østbirk, Give or Kolding the rest of the week, as well as some days working from home. Our other automation programmers are located in Skjern and Marnay France.

Your qualifications

Bringing a genuine interest in programming and new tech we likewise expect that you:

Have the ability and desire to learn many new things

Bring experience with text programming ideally for Siemens HMI and PLC programming, perhaps from your education

Have a good understanding of data and integrations

You will collaborate with many nationalities across the VELUX organisation and therefore good communication skills as well as fluency in English both orally and in writing are required. In addition we imagine that you are able to work individually and in a structured way. You are focused on finding solutions and you are able to analyse, plan and prioritise your tasks.
