Responsibilities and qualifications
As a valued member of our team, your insights and expertise will be pivotal in navigating the challenges of high-frequency planar magnetics for next-generation power solutions in data centers, focusing on enhancing their efficiency, reducing size, and improving thermal management for data center power applications. Your tasks in close collaboration with the group at EPFL will include:

  • develop accurate loss models of high-frequency magnetic components;
  • optimize design methodologies while managing design tradeoffs;
  • implement magnetic integration techniques to address the growing demand for compact and energy-efficient power conversion solutions in data centers.
  • validate your designs in an actual demonstrator project in the data center at EPFL

Any candidate who:

  • has a good grasp of multiple power circuit topologies for AC-DC and DC-DC;
  • has good experience in magnetic components design and optimization.
  • has good experience in analog design
  • is familiar with power semiconductor devices selection and characterization or power packaging.
  • has good experience in PCB schematic and layout.
  • is familiar with one or some of the following simulation tools such as MATLAB & Simulink, PLECS, LTSpice, Ansys (Maxwell, Q3D), Altium, and Orcad;
  • is familiar with embedding programming.
  • has good experience in making laboratory prototypes, debugging, and testing power electronic circuits.
  • is target-oriented, structured thinking, eager to learn new things, and ready to think outside the box;
  • can communicate in English at a good level.

will be considered as a candidate with favorable background. A candidate with high self-motivation and enthusiasm, and who can work under great tension would be preferred.

As a formal qualification, you must have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree.
