Who are we?
Defence Children Services (DCS) has staff working in Military establishments across the world. King Richard�s School is one of our 21 MOD Schools and Early Years Settings providing education for the children of Defence Personnel (service and civilian) serving overseas. It is a small but vibrant 11-18 secondary school serving the military community in British Forces Cyprus.
This role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our DCS vision to Educate the Child-Support the Family-Defend the Nation.
We are looking for a suitably experienced teacher of PE, to teach throughout Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
This is a teachers position advertised at 30 hours per week.
This is an established MOD post within Cyprus and any Cypriot National will not be eligible to apply.
Specially Recruited for Overseas service appointees are not expected to return to the UK.
The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 7,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army. As such using data to aid understanding of our workforce is vital.
Job description
To ensure learning and outcomes for PE students, the key areas of responsibility for this role include:
To endeavour to ensure continuous outstanding student achievement through setting high expectations, effective teaching and learning, closely monitoring progress and giving positive and effective feedback;To contribute to the routine administrative work of the school and teach a broad, balanced and stimulating curriculum across the full range of abilities, helping students develop independent learning.To make a full contribution to the wider life of the school and community.To model positive behaviour management strategies in a Teaching, Mentoring or Form Tutor capacity, creating an environment of mutual respect which allows students to feel safe and secure and promotes self-esteem.To engage fully with the whole school improvement cycles including individual performance reviews.Person specification
The successful candidate will hold Qualified Teacher Status and have successfully completed induction.
Evidence of qualifications will be required at interview. All qualifications declared must be held at the point of application and if applicable, be in date.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
A minimum of three years successful teaching KS3-5.To understand transition between KS5 and Higher EducationSetting high expectations and ensuring good progress and outcomes for pupils taught or mentored.Proven delivery of outstanding classroom practiceProven experience, knowledge and understanding of making accurate assessments that inform planning and enable pupils to improve, and ability to teach KS3-5.Proven experience to successfully lead initiatives (relating to subject area or area of leadership), demonstrating positive impact on progress and attainment.Effective behaviour management that ensures a good and safe learning environment.QualificationsUK QTS and successful completion of Induction programme at the time of application.
