Postdoctoral Researcher in Bacterial Antibiotic Resistance

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, University of Copenhagen. The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative project focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms of bacterial antibiotic resistance.
Project OverviewThe project, titled "Breaking Antimicrobial Resistance by Targeting Potentiators," aims to combat antimicrobial resistance by investigating the role of intrinsic bacterial factors, known as "potentiators," in allowing bacteria to develop high-level resistance to antibiotics. The project will focus on methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), a resistant pathogen with significant clinical impact.
Responsibilities- Conduct state-of-the-art molecular methods within microbiology and immunology to investigate the molecular mechanisms of bacterial antibiotic resistance.
- Collaborate with leading researchers from University of Copenhagen, University of Southern Denmark, Statens Serum Institute, University of Greifswald, and Harvard Medical School.
- Contribute to the development of novel targets to disarm bacteria and restore antibiotic sensitivity or prevent production of central virulence factors.
- Participate in the supervision of students and postdoctoral researchers in the group.
- PhD degree in molecular microbiology or a related field.
- Strong experience in relevant methodologies, including bacterial molecular biology, functional genomics, protein biochemistry, microscopy, and/or antibiotic resistance mechanisms.
- Hands-on experience with bioinformatic genomic analyses.
- Documented publication record, preferably with at least one first-author paper in an international peer-reviewed biological journal.
- Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently as part of a team.
