You will play an important role in: As a part of our Marine Project Engineering function, you will be one of our specialists in propulsion systems, the development of our calculation tools used for our consulting tasks, and providing market insights to our designers. You will play a key role both in advising clients and colleagues in single cases and within the continuous development of our calculation tools like CEAS and other tools.

You will participate in the evaluation of the need for continuous development of our technical calculation tools in close collaboration with our clients and your colleagues in the development-, sales- and marketing departments in Denmark and abroad.

Moreover, you will:

  • Analyse what engine type and size will be the optimal choice for specific ship designs
  • Advice about the best engine to select for given projects
  • Keep yourself up to date on the regulation on emission control and other relevant legislation
  • Answer questions from clients, among which are shipping companies, shipyards, licensees and consultancies
  • Make calculation tools supporting our guidance – both internal and external tools
  • Collect market insights and digest these into the suggestions for the strategic development of the two-stroke engine portfolio considering power and fuel type needs

You will be based in our office in Copenhagen (in 2027 we move to Trekroner close to Roskilde). 10-15 traveling days per year will be expected in the role.

We imagine that you Are an engineer with an outgoing mindset, preferably specialized in the interactions between the main engine, hull and propeller. You are curious by nature, which gives you the drive to always be learning new technologies and smartly doing things focusing on making calculation tools that will help us in our department’s daily work answering questions, and much more. You enjoy innovating and ideas are abundant – which you manage to transform into real initiatives. Sharing your ideas with your colleagues and clients is a motivational factor for you.

On top of this, we imagine our new colleague has:

  • an education as a mechanical engineer, naval architect, or similar
  • knowledge about the two-stroke combustion process, limitations and opportunities in relation to ship design
  • knowledge on propeller and hull design and their impact on the operating conditions of the two-stroke engine
  • the desire to develop new calculation tools and enhance the structure of present tools, etc.
  • an interest in staying updated on latest regulation and impact towards ship and engine design
  • knowing office program package including VBA
  • like to interact with people and participate in seminars or lectures
  • the ability to speak and write English at a professional levels
  • Good skills in analytical work both in independent work and teamwork
  • At least five years’ experience in a similar position

Welcome to the Marine Project Engineering The Marine Project Engineering Department consists of 7 dedicated naval architects, marine engineers, and data experts. Our department has the responsibility of the MAN Energy Solutions engine program cluster CEAS providing engine data for our licensees, shipyards, and ship owners. We have daily contact with the shipyards’ designers of the coming ships for tomorrow fulfilling all the newest environmental and commercial rules and sending engine data, making analysis, giving advice, etc.

Internally we advise concerning the demand for engine development to fit the best for the coming ship design for tomorrow (2025, 2030 …), thus ensuring that our engines stay the first choice for the world's fleet of commercial ships.
