Assistant professorship in European mobility law at the Faculty of Law, University of Copenhagen

København S, Copenhagen, Denmark KU - JUR - Fakultetet, Co Søndre Campus Full time

The Faculty of Law invites applications for an assistant professorship in European mobility law starting on 15 October 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The assistant professorship is a fixed-term position from 15 October 2024 to 14 October 2027.

Job responsibilities
The assistant professorship is situated at the Danish National Research Foundation's Center of Excellence for Global Mobility Law, MOBILE.

We seek a strong candidate with research interest and/or experience in the interplay between law and politics in the adoption, implementation and enforcement of global mobility law, with a particular focus on the European Union (EU).

The position deals in particular with the part of MOBILE's research, which analyses the legal and political processes through which legal infrastructures are shaped and subsequently implemented and enforced.

Applicants are expected to take part in interdisciplinary research, which empirically examines the legal, political and administrative responses to - and sometimes contestation of - EU free movement regulation, and how such rules are applied in practice.

During the second half of the project, the candidate will further be expected to test the generalisability of findings through comparative studies with other regions of free movement.

Further information about the MOBILE center's activities and overall research agenda can be found at:

An assistant professorship is a further-education post. The main responsibilities are research and research-based teaching, as well as knowledge sharing with the rest of society. The successful candidate must complete a mandatory teacher-training course designed especially for assistant professors.

The assistant professor must be able to contribute to both the faculty's scholarly activities, including examinations, and to perform administrative tasks.

Since the work will be divided equally between teaching and research (including administration and communication), applicants must document competencies in these areas.

Applicants are encouraged to find out more about the faculty's research, educations and variety of different subjects at the faculty's website:

The faculty emphasizes presence in the daily research and teaching environment.

Applicants who do not reside in Denmark must consider how they want to ensure that they are an active and participating part of the research and teaching environment regularly.

Qualification requirements
Employment as an assistant professor requires academic qualifications at PhD level.

Applicants for the assistant professorship are expected to be able to document their ability to contribute with research within one or more of the research areas of the faculty's research environments, including showing how the research can benefit the students on one or more of the faculty's educations.

Applicants are expected to either be able to teach in Danish at the time of the application, or to have the proficiency in Danish that will make it probable that the applicant will be able to teach in Danish within 3-6 years.

The faculty actively supports that those employees are enabled to acquire these abilities.
