Odense, Odense Kommune, Denmark Syddansk Universitet Full time

The Centre of Maritime Health and Society, Department of Public Health, University of Southern Denmark in Esbjerg, invites applications for a tenured position as Senior Researcher.

Applicants with a background in sociology, anthropology, psychology, or health disciplines, or areas of research such as occupational safety and health, will be preferred.

The position is vacant from November 1, 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Research environment

The Centre of Maritime Health and Society (CMSS) was established in 1992 and offers a broad cross-disciplinary research environment. It is our aim to create high-quality research which is relevant to the maritime industry and which contributes to and competes with international maritime research. There are currently eleven employees, all of whom work within research disciplines relating to health and safety in the maritime domain. CMSS is currently revising its Strategy Plan , which includes efforts to maintain the Centre's position of having publications with a strong impact in maritime research internationally and in Denmark, and close relations to stakeholders within the offshore, fisheries and shipping sectors.

CMSS has good relations with the Unit for Health Promotion Research and the Department of Sociology, Environmental and Business Economy, all of which are located on the university's Esbjerg campus. CMSS has recently received a very positive external evaluation, and we will continue to build on this and the recommendations for further development.

We are looking for a researcher who can independently solve quantitative and register research and authority service-based tasks and collaborate with other qualitative researchers at the Centre. The main task is to maintain a large database that we have at the Centre, and keep the database up to date, undertake analyses with international and national partners to provide robust analyses of a given area of focus.
