The Center for War Studies (CWS), Department of Political Science and Public Management, University of Southern Denmark, Odense, is hiring a Postdoctoral Fellow as part of the HuMach project funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark, led by Professor Ingvild Bode. Starting date for the position is 1 January 2025, for a fixed term of two years with a competitive full-time salary.
The successful applicant will focus on exploring human-machine interaction in the responsible AI agenda within the military domain. This involves examining policies and practices of the US, UK, and Switzerland, within the four-year HuMach project. Collaboration is with various institutions including Georgetown University, Northeastern University, and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, with a research stay at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.
The candidate will contribute to the research, academic publications, project meetings, conference presentations, organization of events, and engaging with society, among other responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct and contribute to research on human-machine interaction in the context of the responsible AI agenda in the military domain;
- Analyze research results and disseminate conclusions through publications and online platforms;
- Participate in project meetings, present papers at conferences, and organize project events;
- Engage in knowledge exchange activities and research management;
- Participate in academic discussions and events.
- Must hold a PhD in International Relations or Political Science with a focus on International Relations;
- Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and constructivist International Relations theories;
- Experience in publication and societal outreach activities;
- Proficiency in English and a team player mindset;
- Research profile aligned with the Center's strategy and dedicated to academic and social involvement.
