Our research
Our primary research focus is investigating how cardiac arrhythmias emerge due to electrical and structural remodeling. We are an interdisciplinary group of both basic science researchers who collectively aim to elucidate cardiac electrophysiology and structural remodeling with a specific focus on ion channels, inflammatory pathways and their associated proteins and functions. In certain in- and ex-vivo disease models, we utilize different molecular, biochemical, pharmacological and electrophysiological investigations in order to understand how disease states affect the mechanical and electrical function of the heart. Our goal is to incorporate basic science findings with findings from our clinical counterparts and collaborators in order to provide a holistic understanding of cardiac arrhythmias and eventually improving clinical outcome of patients with arrhythmias.
