The Position
As Category Manager for primary packaging materials (glass, rubber, caps), you will be responsible for developing category strategies, driving sourcing activities, and drive the contracting process. You will collaborate with our global external partners and together with the Novo Nordisk teams worldwide secure that we deliver on all ambitions related to packaging materials.

The job entails that you:

- Actively interact with relevant parts of the organisation (our customers), understand the business needs and translate our customer's strategy and ambitions into solutions taking a wide range of sourcing criteria into account, (sustainability, costs, timelines, technology, robustness, risks, responsible sourcing, for example).
- Develop category strategies, identify trends and dynamics and ensure that relevant sourcing opportunities and risks are identified and acted upon.
- Ensure that category fundamentals, such as contracting, and supplier collaboration structures and risk assessments are all managed timely and according to internal procedures.
- Thrive with stakeholder management and understand the complexity of working in a large and global organisation.

In Novo Nordisk, primary packaging material covers the packaging material directly in contact with our drug. Strategic Sourcing Inbound Materials & Services play a pivotal role in making sure that the external network of suppliers is ready to support Novo Nordisk as we extensively grow our manufacturing footprint.

You will be working with suppliers and networks both in and outside Europe, hence you should expect 10 to 20 days of travel activities per year. This position holds ample opportunities for personal and professional development and will quickly establish you as the go-to person within your area.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, we imagine you:

- Hold a master's degree or equivalent in supply chain, business, engineering or any other relevant field coupled with a minimum of 2-4 years of experience in the procurement or sourcing area.
- Possess a solid sourcing toolbox, a strong commercial drive and the ability to drive projects forward leveraging from a broad range of input, e.g. commercial, technical, legal, supply-chain, etc.
- Have experience within packaging materials obtained either from working in a position related to this area or already in procurement/strategic sourcing.
- Experience within pharmaceutical or medical devices industry is preferred but not necessary.
- Preferably are familiar with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
- Have fluency in English, both spoken and written.

As a person, you have a strategic mind-set and an ability to quickly understand different business models, the supply chain and the industry. Preferably, you have a keen interest and understanding of packaging materials. You can put strategy into action by breaking the bigger picture down into sourcing related decisions. Additionally, you are a skilled project manager, with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of numbers. Lastly, you enjoy working in a multicultural and high-pace environment and bring a 'can-do attitude', and a healthy sense of humour to your work also when under pressure.

About the department
Strategic Sourcing Inbound Materials & Services is the central sourcing unit in Novo Nordisk's Product Supply division. We are responsible for securing that we have suppliers in place that can support Novo Nordisk's worldwide pharmaceutical production. Through collaboration with our international supplier networks, we ensure availability of the supply needed to develop and produce products that helps millions of people around the world to live with chronical diseases.
