Title
Role of dietary proteins in bone health elucidated by metabolomics approaches
Research area and project description
The Department of Food Science at Aarhus University is inviting applications for a Ph.D. student position focused on the effects of dietary protein source on the gut metabolism and bone health.
Background for the project is founded in the fact that research indicates that different dietary proteins may have different effects on bone growth. Former studies in rodent models have compared different compositions of milk proteins, but it has not yet been mapped which dietary proteins particularly benefit bone growth and mode of action. In addition, it remains to be established if the differential effects of dietary proteins involve an interplay with effects on the gut metabolic activity. Further knowledge is therefore necessary to determine which specific protein sources that are particularly beneficial in terms of promoting bone health.
The present PhD project is anticipated to generate knowledge about how the optimized composition of dietary proteins can augment bone health through further developments of metabolomics applications in nutrition research.
Project description: For technical reasons, you must upload a project description. Please simply copy the project description above and upload it as a PDF in the application.
