How To Contribute To Our Vision
For our R&D Nacelle Back End department within the Technology organization, we are looking for a highly skilled mechanical engineer being responsible for the development of innovative crane systems. You will join a global team of Crane Engineers and be involved in defining our specifications and contributing to defining the Service Crane inside the turbine for future generations of wind turbines. Service crane systems are a vital part of wind turbines to ensure safe and efficient maintenance. You will keep up with the turbines' steady increase in size, weight and the exciting challenges as a result of this.
Responsibilities
You will provide valuable specialist knowledge and support across the entire organization to functions like Procurement, Supplier Quality, Production and to crane suppliers. You will therefore have a broad range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Defining Service Crane design requirements to fulfill turbine requirements
- Specifying and maintaining technical specifications for crane systems
- Ensure that design meets criteria for static and dynamic loads, cost, quality, ease of assembly, serviceability and EHS.
- Review and creation of product documentation prepared internally and by crane suppliers to ensure compliance with internal procedures and CE marking requirements
- Participate in test and validation activities
- Close collaboration with crane suppliers and internal stakeholders like Project organization, Service and EHS
- Technical sparring during supplier development
- Taking part in supplier evaluation and selection
- Sharing knowledge and new learnings with the rest of the Technology R&D organization
What You Need To Make a Difference

- A candidate with a bachelor or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or corresponding professional experience
- Several years of relevant work experience within mechanical design - preferably from the wind industry or alternatively from the loader crane industry
- Experience with the machinery directive 2006/42/EC and with relevant technical standards such as EN Eurocodes, EN13001 and EN12999
- Knowledge in project management will be an advantage
- Knowledge with NX Siemens PLM, Teamcenter Siemens PLM, ANSYS and Mathcad will be an advantage
- Are outgoing and proactive, with a strong focus on maintaining fruitful relationships with different stakeholders in the organization.
- You are familiar with cross-functional teamwork and understand team dynamics
- Thrive in a R&D environment, where not all the answers are known up front.
- Are structured and pragmatic in dealing with issues and challenges and are not afraid of making your opinion known
- Have flair for communication and enjoy engaging in dialogue, thereby being able to communicate your knowledge to people with different backgrounds.
- You possess strong communication skills in English, orally and in writing.
