Crane Systems Engineer

Transforming the Future of Renewable Energy
Siemen Gamesa Renewable Energy, S.A. is a global leader in the development of innovative solutions for the wind industry. We are seeking a highly skilled Crane Systems Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design of cutting-edge crane systems for wind turbines.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering and experience in the development of crane systems. They will be responsible for defining design requirements, specifying technical specifications, and ensuring that the design meets criteria for static and dynamic loads, cost, quality, ease of assembly, serviceability, and EHS.
The successful candidate will also have excellent communication skills and be able to collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers. They will be part of a global team of experts who share a passion for renewable energy and are committed to making a positive impact on the environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define Service Crane design requirements to fulfill turbine requirements
- Specify and maintain technical specifications for crane systems
- Ensure that design meets criteria for static and dynamic loads, cost, quality, ease of assembly, serviceability, and EHS
- Review and create product documentation prepared internally and by crane suppliers to ensure compliance with internal procedures and CE marking requirements
- Participate in test and validation activities
- Collaborate closely with crane suppliers and internal stakeholders like Project organization, Service, and EHS
- Take part in supplier evaluation and selection
- Share knowledge and new learnings with the rest of the Technology R&D organization
Requirements:
- Bachelor or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or corresponding professional experience
- Several years of relevant work experience within mechanical design - preferably from the wind industry or alternatively from the loader crane industry
- Experience with the machinery directive 2006/42/EC and with relevant technical standards such as EN Eurocodes, EN13001, and EN12999
- Knowledge in project management will be an advantage
- Knowledge with NX Siemens PLM, Teamcenter Siemens PLM, ANSYS, and Mathcad will be an advantage
- Outgoing and proactive, with a strong focus on maintaining fruitful relationships with different stakeholders in the organization
- Familiarity with cross-functional teamwork and understanding of team dynamics
- Ability to thrive in an R&D environment, where not all the answers are known up front
- Structured and pragmatic in dealing with issues and challenges and are not afraid of making your opinion known
- Strong communication skills in English, orally and in writing
