The Inventory Control Specialist ensures accountability and security of inventory through transaction documentation, process, procedure verification, and system review. Provides daily guidance and leadership to a small team of inventory control technicians. Forecasts data center consumable inventory needs in collaboration with the planning team. Collaborates with local cross functional teams and with peers in remote locations to improve and standardize processes. Conducts physical inventories and leads cycle counts. Analyzes and, when able, corrects cycle count discrepancies.
Description
Apple's Data Center Operations Team is an exciting, fast paced, ever growing and changing environment supporting millions of customers. This team is responsible for deploying and maintaining equipment related to Apple's internet facing applications. We are seeking an Inventory Control Specialist to join a team of Datacenter Technicians who are responsible for the installation and maintenance of thousands of application servers, load balancers, storage systems, and network equipment. We are looking for an individual with experience in a large environment who likes to be challenged in a very fast paced organization. Responsibilities include:
- Preparing and maintaining records of all inventory and providing regular inventory reports to management
- Providing input to forecasting, budgeting, and purchasing processes for data center consumables
- Providing daily direction, training, and oversight to the inventory control team
- Daily operations and inventory room oversight using Lean and 5S principles
- Collaborating with local cross functional teams and with peers in remote locations
- Developing, documenting, and improving operational policies and procedures
- Developing, refining, and reporting KPIs to measure operational performance and process compliance
- Maintaining inventory accuracy through cycle counts and physical inventory programs, investigating inventory shortages and discrepancies
- Ensuring compliance to inventory processes and procedures
- Other duties as required and assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Key Qualifications
- Prior inventory management and/or supply chain experience
- Familiarity with ERP and manual inventory practices
- Ability to communicate and execute in a fast paced environment
- Process improvement and standardization
- Experience working with multifunctional teams and providing peer leadership
- Highly motivated self-starter that is able to work independently, meet assigned deadlines and handle various tasks at one time in an ambiguous and dynamic environment
Preferred Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree is beneficial
Additional Requirements
- Experience with SAP, Excel, inventory management software, and inventory tracking practices is preferred.
