Position Overview:

My client is actively seeking a proactive and dynamic Head of Engineering to enhance their team with technical expertise and best practices. This role is crucial in contributing to their technology strategy and ensuring successful development and evolution of their platform.

Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and working closely with Product Management, you will align engineering initiatives with product goals and company strategy. As the Head of Engineering, you will be at the forefront of their technology development, overseeing the engineering teams and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership to the engineering team, guiding the development of innovative solutions aligned with business objectives.
  2. Team Management: Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and accountability.
  3. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product management, design, and other stakeholders to align engineering efforts with product goals, customer needs, and market opportunities.
  4. Project Planning and Execution: Oversee project planning, resource allocation, and execution, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software solutions within budget and scope.
  5. Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce quality standards, processes, and best practices to maintain the integrity and reliability of software products throughout the development lifecycle.
  6. Technical Problem Solving: Provide guidance and support to the engineering team in resolving complex technical challenges, leveraging expertise in software architecture, design patterns, and troubleshooting techniques.
  7. Performance Optimization: Identify and address performance bottlenecks, scalability issues, and technical debt through proactive optimization and refactoring efforts.
  8. Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement to drive engineering excellence and organizational growth.

Qualifications:

  1. Experience: You have at least 5 years of hands-on experience in software development management, bringing a toolbox of process experience and knowledge.
  2. Background: Ideally, a developer background with a strong ability to comprehend complex technical issues.
  3. Technology Stack: Familiarity with Rust, React, and C# on Azure is preferred, but not mandatory.
  4. Leadership: Proven track record in leading development teams and promoting cross-functional collaboration.
  5. Desirable Experience: Background in start-up environments and enterprise product development is a plus.
