When coming to WarPigs, you are greeted with the sounds of diverse music and lively chatter in the air. On one end you have our brewery, and the other our kitchen – so you will experience a mixtured smell of hops, malt, and smoked meat that can only be described in one word: WarPigs. Our location is a refurbished butchery, with a careful selection of American-twang added in to give our guests the Real American BBQ Experience.

Join the WarPigs team
You will be joining a team of around 50 people spanning from the brewery, bar, and kitchen. While we all have our own focus and expertise, we operate as one. We want to offer a unique and individualised experience to our guests every time, and you will be a part of leading a team to obtain that focus. While you are learning how we operate, you will be supported by fun and engaging colleagues, which includes your Direct Manager, Adrian, and General Manager, Wilson.
This is what you will be doing
You will often find yourself working in collaboration with your manager and colleagues in the kitchen, whether that be food preparation or menu planning. We are never short on things to do, yet we always find a way to have fun while doing it. Your responsibilities will include:
- Food Preparation: Preparing and smoking various meats such as brisket, ribs, sausages, and more, running the fryer section and serving guests at the pass.
- Kitchen Management: Overseeing kitchen staff, including assigning tasks, monitoring work quality, and ensuring adherence to food safety and sanitation standards. This includes managing inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment.
- Quality Control: Conducting taste tests and visual inspections to maintain the quality and consistency of dishes served in the restaurant and at events/festivals.
- Event/Festival Preparation: When events or festivals are scheduled, the junior sous chef will play a crucial role in planning the logistics, including menu customization, food quantities, and equipment setup. They need to ensure the team is well-prepared for the event's specific needs.
What are we looking for?
Because we are a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, we are looking for someone who has 4 years of previous experience as a cook, and at least 1 year experience as a sous chef. As you will be engaging and helping to lead the kitchen, you should be out-going and personable. Previous knowledge of BBQ is not required, but encouraged. We anticipate that you have the following skills:
- Leadership and Team Management
- Adaptability and Problem-solving
- Strong culinary skills, experience in American BBQ is an advantage
