The candidate will undertake research into luminescence dating by developing the most suitable quartz and feldspar dating protocols with the ultimate aim of developing detailed age-depth models. The candidate will independently carry out fieldwork and be responsible for implementing all sediment provenance techniques used in the project. The candidate should have a strong publication record and good communication and writing skills in English.

The candidate must have prior hands-on experience in:

  • Luminescence dating and radiocarbon dating
  • Geochemical methods for dust provenance analysis, especially U-Pb dating of zircons

The successful candidate is expected to have a background in geoscience and must have expertise in carrying out independent fieldwork in loess terrain and sample collection. Experience with Bayesian age-depth modelling would be an advantage.

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).
