Postdoc in Digital Communication Architectures for Microgrid Applications (2024-224-06027)

At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, AAU Energy, a position as Postdoc in Digital Communication Architectures for Microgrid Applications is open for appointment from 1 December 2024 to 30 November 2026 or soon hereafter.

Job Description
The research areas will involve communications and DT architectures focused on Microgrids (MG) applications and it is expected that the candidate requires a solid communication background. The candidate will develop and implement several communication systems (using mostly wireless protocols) and implement them together with several MG control architectures. Since most of the research is planned to be laboratory-based, related laboratory experience is crucial, including coding micropython-based microcontrollers. Strong expertise in a wide range of wireless and wired communication protocols like IEEE802.11x, LoRaWan, IEEE 802.15.4, and IEEE 802.3 is a must. Performance analysis under normal and faulty situations shall be thoroughly conducted.

The candidate should also have solid expertise in MQTT implementation, communication protocols, and using open-source technologies for IoT architectures. Expertise on laboratory-scale MG prototypes with proper control and management algorithms is also necessary. Additionally, working experience with dSPACE real-time platforms (or other hardware-in-the-loop platforms) is considered an asset.

Qualification Requirements:
Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.
