JOB OBJECTIVE

The HR Manager will play a key role in supporting the HR Director to deliver and drive the HR strategy, ensuring alignment with the overall business objectives. This role will lead the HR team to provide exceptional HR services, foster a culture of trust, and build high-performance teams. The HR Manager will collaborate closely with the ER/IR Manager to ensure seamless employee relations management, compliance with labour laws, and the promotion of a positive workplace environment. This partnership will include mutual support and coverage during periods of leave, ensuring continuity and consistency in HR and ER/IR functions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the HR Director in developing and implementing HR strategies that align with the overall business goals and drive organisational performance.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the HR team to deliver high-quality HR services and support.
  • Partner with the ER/IR Manager to address employee relations issues, union negotiations, and compliance matters. Provide mutual support and coverage during each other’s absences to maintain consistency in HR and ER/IR activities.
  • Maintaining a healthy, safe, and respectful work environment to promote safe work practices and psychological amongst the employees and to eliminate stress and conflict within employees.
  • Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, and retention processes to attract and retain top talent. Implement effective talent management and succession planning strategies.
  • Provide comprehensive support & advice to the function heads, UM’s, SM’s, Supervisors, and staff across the business.
  • Manage performance management processes, including setting performance standards, conducting evaluations, and supporting managers in addressing performance issues.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention. Conduct regular employee engagement surveys and act on feedback.
  • Support with the design and delivery of training programs to develop employee skills and leadership capabilities. Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Support the development, implement, and enforcement of HR policies and procedures in line with best practices and legal requirements, including GDPR and labour laws.
  • Support the ER/IR Manager in handling employee relations cases, conflict resolution, grievances, and disciplinary actions, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies.
  • Promote DEI initiatives to foster a diverse and inclusive workplace environment.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of HR metrics for the leadership team to assess the effectiveness of HR programs and initiatives.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure HR practices comply with legal standards and company policies. Address any compliance issues proactively.
  • Support the business with GDPR compliance, act as point of contact for GDPR concerns withing HR.

REQUIREMENTS

Experience

  • Must be highly efficient, results focused and with a keen attention to detail.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ working experience in HR and management is required for this position.
  • FMCG/Manufacturing HR experience is preferred.
  • Must have highly excellent HR, ER and IR experience in a unionised environment.
  • Experience in Change Management is an advantage.
  • Transformation Experience is preferred.
  • Must have experience of effectively managing projects and/or programmes on time and with agreed budget parameters.
  • Solid understanding of HR functional areas and practices.

Educational Qualifications

  • Must possess a HR qualification preferably at a Masters/Degree level in HR Management or Business.
  • Employment Law Diploma or higher is preferred.
