JOB OBJECTIVE
The Senior HR Manager will partner with the HR Director in driving and executing comprehensive HR strategies that align with the company’s overall business objectives, fostering a culture of dignity, respect, and inclusion. This role will champion initiatives that promote high performance, employee engagement, and continuous improvement, while ensuring legal compliance and maintaining strong relationships with union representatives. The Senior HR Manager will lead efforts to resolve complex employee and industrial relations issues, negotiate collective bargaining agreements, and leverage data-driven insights to enhance organisational development. By developing and coaching the HR team and delivering strategic training programs, this role will build management capability, support GDPR compliance, and drive key HR metrics to influence informed decision-making and promote a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the HR Director in developing and implementing HR strategies and initiatives that align with overall business objectives and promote a culture of dignity, respect, and inclusion.
- Collaborate with the HR Director to provide guidance and support to senior management on strategic HR matters, including workforce planning, talent management, and organisational development, with a focus on building an inclusive and engaging workplace.
- Foster a high-performance culture by setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback, and promoting continuous improvement across HR practices, ensuring all initiatives support a respectful and inclusive work environment.
- Support the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to manage and resolve employee and industrial relations matters, ensuring they align with the organization’s goals and promote a culture of respect and inclusion.
- Oversee and manage complex employee relations (ER) and industrial relations (IR) cases, including grievances, disciplinary actions, and disputes, ensuring timely, consistent, legally compliant resolutions that uphold dignity and respect.
- Support H&S Manager in implementing best practice policies to support the health, safety and welfare of our employees.
- Lead and negotiate collective bargaining agreements, striving for balanced outcomes that support both business objectives and employee rights, while fostering positive relationships with union representatives.
- Design and implement strategic employee engagement programs that enhance job satisfaction, retention, organisational loyalty, and promote a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
- Utilise data-driven insights from employee surveys, feedback mechanisms, and engagement metrics to inform and refine strategies that improve workplace culture and employee satisfaction.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs on company policies, employment law, diversity and inclusion, and best practices in managing employee and industrial relations, to promote a respectful and compliant workplace.
- Ensure best practice in GDPR compliance and act as Local Integrity Manager (LIM) for Manor Farm, adhering to Scandi standards and fostering a culture of transparency and trust.
- Develop, monitor, and analyse key HR metrics, such as turnover rates, employee engagement scores, absenteeism, and ER/IR case trends, providing actionable insights to the HR Director and leadership team to drive data-informed decision-making.
- Support and develop the HR team through continuous learning, guidance, and coaching, encouraging a culture of growth, respect, and inclusivity.
- Ensure the HR Manager and wider HR team are supported in driving forward initiatives across all HR functions, focusing on employee engagement, DE&I, and continuous improvement, to enhance the overall workplace culture.

Experience
- A minimum of 7 years’ working experience in HR and management is required for this position.
- FMCG/Manufacturing HR experience is preferred.
- Must have highly excellent HR, ER and IR experience in a unionised environment.
- Experience in Change Management is required.
- Transformation Experience is preferred.
- Must have experience of effectively managing projects and/or programmes on time and with agreed budget parameters.
- Solid understanding of HR functional areas and practices.
Educational Qualifications
- Must possess a HR qualification at a Masters level in HR Management or Business.
- Employment Law Diploma or higher is preferred.
- Qualification in Strategic People Management is an advantage.
