Mathematical software developer to elevate accuracy and image processing in 3D scanners.
3Shape's solutions are disrupting traditional dental workflows by replacing physical impressions of patient teeth with highly accurate, high-resolution 3D scans and digital workflows. This provides patients worldwide with an improved customer experience, while giving dentists a wider range of treatment options, increasing efficiency, and allowing our customers to treat more patients.
We are looking for a software developer in R&D, with a solid background in mathematics, physics or other relevant STEM field, who wishes to develop ideas and software for 3Shape's top-of-the-range scanner systems to push the boundaries for accuracy, precision and image quality. You will be part of an innovative and agile team that works in a stimulating environment in close cooperation with electronics, optics, and mechanical specialists.
As people we are social, open-minded and have an unusually good team spirit. The team's primary responsibility is embedded and non-embedded software for 3D scanner systems (wired and wireless). You will develop an in-depth understanding of our scanner systems to ensure our continuing position as a global leader in the dental scanner industry. Together with your team you will use modern tools and technologies like C#, C++ 20 and onwards, Python, and GitHub Actions. As we move along, we on a regular basis include new technologies which let us stay on top.

Your Role
Together with your team you will make sure that the scanner system stays ahead of the competitors. You will be instrumental in the improvement of the accuracy and image quality of the scanners. You will be part of a cross-functional team of highly skilled and top of the class colleagues that sets the bar for innovation high.
Your responsibilities
- Assume responsibility for improving the image quality and scanner accuracy and precision for next generation intraoral scanners
- Design and optimize algorithms for our intraoral scanners
- Devise strategies and implement code for in-production calibration and testing of scanners
- Keeping up with, evaluating, and introducing new technologies for next generation scanners including adoption of AI.
- In close cooperation with software, optical, electrical and mechanical engineers develop the next versions of our scanner.
- Contribute to a fun and professional work environment within the team and in the 3Shape family. We value humor and a positive spirit.
Your profile
- Educated as a M.Sc. or Ph.D. in physics, mathematics, computer science, electronics engineering, or equivalent.
- Good programming skills in object-oriented languages, preferably with experience in C#, modern C++, and Python.
- Great interest in, and a good understanding of algorithms and optimization.
- Experienced in computer science with advanced mathematical reasoning and good computer vision skills.
- Knows how to make the solution work in real-life.
- Mindset for quality, flexibility, creativity, emerging technologies, and for seeing priorities from a user perspective.
Experience with Windows and Linux technologies is desired.
