Kongens Lyngby, Lyngby-Tårbæk Kommune, Denmark COWI AS Full time

Do you want to join one of Denmarks leading consulting companies, creating value for customers, people, and societies worldwide? Can you use your strong knowledge within marine structural engineering to assist our clients and the green transition? And are you an experienced Marine Engineer with a relevant degree and a desire to develop your skills even further? Then, here is your chance to convert aspirations into actions.

Create the solutions that will enable a better tomorrow
To help us deliver the best solutions to our clients, we are looking for a Senior Structural Marine Engineer to join our team. We are more than 20 people working alongside our customers on some of Denmark's most significant projects. By having structural, geotechnical and hydraulic engineers working side by side we are consistently bringing cross-discipline thinking and strong teamwork to every project . And we are thrilled to have contributed to projects like Lynetteholmen reclamation project, Laayoune phosphate terminal in Morocco and the Abo Qir Port Expansion in Egypt.
As our new senior Structural Marine Engineer, you are going to work closely with a team of experts and will report to the Head of Discipline.

Your key tasks will be:

  • Acting as a Marine Structural Specialist or as a Marine Structural Discipline Lead for port, terminal, and marine infrastructure projects, working closely with clients and stakeholders to ensure high-quality outcomes that meet their needs and align with our sustainability goals.
  • Acting as a Project Manager in small sized marine engineering projects.
  • Engaging with project managers in setting a technical direction for the structural discipline, budget and staff planning.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to team members and contribute to the development of their technical capabilities.
  • Engage with technical networks to facilitate the development of innovative approaches, as well as new methods and workflows that integrate the latest technology and best practices.

Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future
The first step to success in this role is that you are eager to collaborate with the people around you, whether they are colleagues, partners or customers. Developing ties with others is something you do by acting respectfully and delivering on your promises. And you never get set in your ways but keep exploring new insights and ways to improve.

On top of that, you will have:

  • A degree in civil (or structural or geotechnical or marine) engineering with 8-15 years of experience in an engineering consultancy.
  • Scandinavian consultancy experience in designing berthing structures and other structures in the marine environment such as dolphins, trestles, water intakes/outfalls, etc.
  • Expertise with quay equipment, scour protection, navigation and other elements of port design.
  • Practical knowledge of concrete and steel structural design and detailing.
  • Thorough understanding of relevant building industry codes in Denmark and other Scandinavian countries. Experience with BS 6349, and PIANC is considered beneficial.
  • Extensive experience with common structural (or geotechnical) packages.
  • Domestic and Scandinavian marine / coastal market awareness is beneficial.
  • Fluency in Danish or one of the other Scandinavian languages.

A place to work and so much more
At COWI, we work together with our customers to shape a sustainable and liveable world. We do it by applying our knowledge and curiosity – and sometimes even our courage – to create the solutions the world needs today to enable a better tomorrow. That is why we say no to fossil-based projects and aspire to have 100% of our revenue come from activities that move our customers towards sustainability.
We value differences and development and cultivate an environment of belonging and having fun. Because that is what brings out the best in you, at work and at home.
With offices primarily located in the Nordic region, the UK, North America and India, we are currently more than 8,000 people who bring their expertise in engineering, architecture, energy and environment into play.

Got more questions?

Before you apply
All you need to include in your application is your CV – no photo or application letter. At an interview, you can tell us everything we need to know about why you're interested in joining COWI. As for the photo, we prefer to form our first impression in person rather than from a picture. We are happy to accept applications in Danish or English.

Diversity is fundamental to COWI, inclusion is key
We are committed to creating a respectful and fair work environment where all employees have a sense of belonging and equitable opportunities to thrive and grow. We ensure that our leaders are role models for inclusive leadership by cultivating a culture where diverse perspectives and thoughts are seen as strengths.
