UNDP does not tolerate sexual exploitation and abuse, any kind of harassment, including sexual harassment, and discrimination. All selected candidates will, therefore, undergo rigorous reference and background checks.
BackgroundContext
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls, the empowerment of women and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action, and peace and security.
This international-level consultancy position is located within the UN Women Department of Management and Administration, Office of the Security and Safety Services and reports to the UN Women Deputy Global Security Advisor. The role based in Copenhagen, Denmark, and includes official travel to UN Women offices.
Background
- The United Nations Security Management System Policy Manual dictates compliance of all UN Women office locations with area-specific Security Risk Management Measures and various system-wide policy requirements.
- To ensure compliance with the policy requirements, UN Women implemented the Security and Safety Compliance Survey in 2015. This Survey process requires a major update to address upcoming changes in the IT platform on which it operates, simplify, and automate various processes, and incorporate changes required by Security and Safety Services.
Deliverables and Activities
- Collaborate closely with the vendor throughout the development phase to ensure all project requirements are thoroughly met. Facilitate and participate in meetings with all relevant stakeholders to guarantee clear communication and alignment on project goals and progress. Coordinate closely with the UN Women IST Team throughout the process.
- Perform comprehensive testing of the new platform to confirm it meets all the needs and specifications of UN Women Security and Safety Services. This includes functionality, usability, and performance testing to ensure the platform is reliable and effective.
- Assist Security Specialists on missions to evaluate office compliance through the new SSCS and Security Monitoring Hub. Provide on-site support during these evaluations to ensure all security measures are thoroughly assessed. Document the findings of these evaluations, offering recommendations for enhancing office compliance.
- Develop and deliver training sessions to be delivered remotely, on-site and an online self-paced modular package to ensure personnel are adequately educated on the new Security and Safety Compliance System. These sessions will ensure that personnel understand their responsibilities for office compliance and can use the new system with confidence.
- Offer ongoing support and assistance to offices as they transition to the new system. Address any questions or issues that arise to ensure a smooth and efficient transition process.
- Carefully review and develop all training materials and manuals related to the Security and Safety Compliance System. Ensure these documents are accurate, clear, and provide thorough instructions for users.
- Collaborate with the vendor to produce a video that effectively communicates the system's features and benefits.
- Regularly update the Security and Safety Compliance System intranet page with the latest information, resources, and materials. Ensure the page remains a valuable and up-to-date resource for all users.
- Assist with delivery of the training packages, such as ‘Communicating for Meaning’, the UNSMS Women’s Security Awareness Training (WSAT) sessions, etc. when required.
- Support global rollout of Everbridge integration with eTA and provide support to UN Women office locations during transition. Assist offices when they face issues with Everbridge.
- Perform any other assigned task related to this project.
Tasks
- Maintain close consultations with the Global Security Advisor and Deputy Global Security Advisor throughout the process.
- This consultancy will require mission travel to UN Women offices.
Required Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Master’s degree in security, Business Administration, Risk Management, Political Science, or a similar field. A first-level degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- Minimum two (2) years of combined work experience in areas of compliance systems and processes, communication and/or administration.
- Experience in the United Nations Security Management System.
