Unlocking the Potential of Solid-State Batteries

The Department of Energy Conversion and Storage at DTU is seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to contribute to the development of advanced electrolyte materials for solid-state batteries. As a key member of our research team, you will investigate the effect of dislocation density on the ion conductivity of electrolyte materials and explore novel methods to enhance their performance.

About the Project

The project focuses on the development of a solid electrolyte for all-solid-state Li and Na metal batteries with ionic conductivity exceeding the intrinsic value of the corresponding oxide electrolyte material. You will work closely with our team to fabricate and characterize electrolyte materials, utilizing advanced techniques such as high-temperature forging and in-situ x-ray tomography.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

As a PhD researcher, you will be responsible for:

  • Investigating the effect of dislocation density on the ion conductivity of electrolyte materials
  • Developing and characterizing novel electrolyte materials using advanced techniques
  • Collaborating with our team to achieve project goals and milestones
  • Disseminating research findings through international peer-reviewed journals and conferences

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you should have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in chemistry, physics, or materials science engineering, with experimental experience in electrochemical energy storage and excellent knowledge of solid-state chemistry.
