Senior PHP Developer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior PHP Developer to join our team at IxDF - The Interaction Design Foundation. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our web application, ensuring it meets the highest standards of quality and performance.

Your primary focus will be on the back-end development of our platform, utilizing PHP and the Laravel framework. You will work closely with our senior developers, UI/UX designers, content and product leads, and our founders to refine specifications for new features and enhancements.

Key responsibilities include:

• Contributing to the development of the back-end for interaction-design.org, encompassing new features, occasional refactorings, and infrequent bug fixes.
• Writing maintainable and clean back-end code, including our open-source packages.
• Engaging with cross-functional teams to refine specifications for new features and enhancements.
• Maintaining up-to-date documentation for all developed and modified code (MD + mermaid.js).
• Consistently expanding test coverage using PHPUnit and cypress.io, with a preference for TDD.
• Proactively engaging in refactoring processes to reduce technical debt, aiming for an optimal developer experience.
• Reviewing peers' code submissions, utilizing PR reviews as a knowledge-sharing and problem-solving tool.
• Participating in planning, stand-up, and workshop video calls, enjoying 3 meeting-free days weekly for focused work.
• Frequently deploying your code with multiple daily releases (incrementally shipping features using feature flags).

Requirements:

• Expert knowledge in PHP and frameworks like Laravel or Symfony.
• Professional experience with OOP spanning over 6 years, grounded in a robust understanding of computer science fundamentals, from data structures to design patterns.
• An engineer's mindset, always curious about the mechanics behind the scenes.
• Enthusiasm about learning by doing and a commitment to putting in the effort to continuously improve skills.
• Acceptable English language skills, as you will be working with people from all around the world.
• Teamwork and collaboration values, prioritizing collective goals and harmony in the workplace.
