Are you passionate about developing innovative medical devices and taking charge of complex projects? Ambu is currently seeking an experienced R&D Engineer to join our Mechanical Design team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing novel medical devices, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the highest level of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify user needs and design inputs through participation in project start-up phases and interaction with key opinion leaders, doctors, and experts worldwide.
  • Develop new and improve existing mechanical design solutions for Ambu's extensive product portfolio in endoscopy, anesthesiology, and patient monitoring.
  • Design and construct functionalities, parts, and assemblies, ensuring quality aspects for robust and safe medical products.
  • Translate technology concepts into fully working prototypes, ready for feasibility testing and process evaluation, including documentation.
  • Evaluate the manufacturability of components or products in high volume, ensuring functionality and staying within the defined cost framework.
  • Ensure continuous updated documentation in accordance with FDA and ISO certification requirements, including FMEA's, risk assessments, and tolerance analyses.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners, working in international development teams and with external partners, users, physicians, and suppliers.

Qualifications:

  • Successfully completed a technical or scientific course of study, e.g., mechanical or medical engineering, resulting in a broad technical understanding.
  • Proficiency in working with CAD systems, e.g., Inventor, Solidworks, Creo, Catia.
  • Experience in product development and/or design of safety-critical products.
  • Experience working with the development of Medical Devices is considered an advantage, but other highly regulated industries could also be relevant.
  • Relevant experience in the design of mechanical and plastic components for high volumes from the fields of injection molding, extrusion, and tool design.
  • Professional level of both written and spoken English.
  • Strong team and communication skills, initiative, and courage to take the technical lead in development project groups.
