The Hub is seeking an experienced Laboratory Operations Specialist to oversee our accredited calibration laboratory. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the lab, ensuring compliance with procedures and quality manuals, and leading the lab team. This role includes technical leadership of the laboratory, maintaining high standards in calibration processes, equipment maintenance, and staff training.

We strive to be creative in how we develop and operate our calibrations, which means that we are looking for a Laboratory Operations Specialist who can think outside the box and challenge normal ways of doing things.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Operations: Manage technical operations, ensuring adherence to both standard and non-standard procedures.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure daily adherence to procedures and the quality manual, maintaining quality across all processes in the laboratory.
  • Equipment Management: Oversee the maintenance and control of laboratory equipment and ensure the technical conditions of the laboratory are suitable for operations.
  • Calibration Oversight: Manage and oversee the planning, execution, and quality of all calibrations, including selecting methods and performing data analysis.
  • Staff Expertise and Training: Define required expertise and experience for staff, and plan and implement their training programs.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Preserve and document technical knowledge and experience for all laboratory personnel.
  • Inter-Laboratory Comparisons: Ensure inter-laboratory comparisons are conducted regularly to maintain standards.
  • Corrective Actions: Designate suitable personnel to implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Communication and Customer Interaction: Communicate with internal teams regarding laboratory operations and customer inquiries.
  • Oversight and Approvals: Hold ultimate responsibility for calibrations, including final decisions on method selection, data analysis, and accuracy of statements and interpretations.
