About the Job
">- This PhD position is part of the AUTOASSESS project, a high-profile EU consortium led by DTU Electro. The project aims to develop fully autonomous solutions for challenging tasks such as inspecting dark water ballast tanks on large vessels.
- As an AI research scientist, you will design uncertainty-aware semantic segmentation models and create curated, probabilistic annotated datasets that capture the inherent ambiguity in defect labeling.
- You will work with a multidisciplinary team to integrate your algorithms into a practical, next-generation aerial inspection platform.
- Your responsibilities include conducting state-of-the-art research, developing novel deep learning techniques, and investigating uncertainty-aware models.
- You will collaborate with the AUTOASSESS project team, publish your findings in top-tier conferences and journals, and contribute to grant proposals.
About the Project
">- The AUTOASSESS project focuses on developing robust inspection systems onboard aerial robots for confined, visually degraded, and GNSS-denied environments.
- You will investigate and implement uncertainty-aware models that enhance inspection reliability and robustness in challenging scenarios.
- Your work will involve leveraging model outputs to derive reproducible qualitative and quantitative metrics of faults and defects, integrating statistical metrics into active inspection behaviors.
- You will stay current with advances in computer vision, machine learning, and aerial robotics, ensuring your work reflects the latest research trends.
About the Team

- Your PhD project will result in scientific publications and experimental validation of your results.
