**Job Description**

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled PhD scholar to join our team at DTU - Technical University of Denmark. The successful candidate will be part of the Inorganic Phosphosulfides for Optoelectronics project, which aims to address the scientific and technological challenge of finding the best material for solar cells among an enormous space of possible materials.

The PhD scholar will work on developing thin-film phosphosulfide materials for solar cell applications using advanced experimental techniques such as vacuum-based thin-film deposition, characterization, and analysis. The successful candidate will have access to a world-unique suite of thin-film processing setups customized for the inclusion of phosphorus and sulfur elements.

The responsibilities of the PhD scholar include synthesizing various phosphosulfide materials, measuring their chemical, physical, and optoelectronic properties, expanding data infrastructure capabilities, exchanging and analyzing data with other team members, and fabricating simple solar cell prototypes.

The ideal candidate should have some experience with vacuum-based thin-film deposition, characterization techniques, and coding (preferably Python). Additionally, they should be able to work both individually and as part of a team, motivated to follow research tasks to completion, and summarize research outcomes in several scientific articles during their PhD.

**Required Skills and Qualifications**

  • Master's degree in Materials Science, Physics (emphasis on solid state physics), Chemistry (emphasis on inorganic/solid state chemistry), or related Engineering disciplines
  • Some experience with vacuum-based thin-film deposition and characterization techniques
  • Coding skills in Python or similar languages
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Motivation to learn new things and push the boundaries of science

**Benefits**

DTU offers a rewarding and challenging job in an international environment, with opportunities for academic excellence, collegial respect, and academic freedom tempered by responsibility. We strive for a healthy work-life balance and offer various benefits including a competitive salary, access to state-of-the-art facilities, and a comprehensive pension plan.

**Other Information**

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The period of employment is 3 years, and the tentative start date is September 1, 2025. The position is a full-time position.
