About the Role

We are seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer to join our Algo Data team at Centrica Energy Trading. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and operating a data platform that enables and supports the growth of our Algo Trading business.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work alongside an ambitious, collaborative, and fun team dedicated to creating a robust data platform. You will be responsible for designing and implementing data engineering solutions, working with distributed systems, and ensuring the scalability and reliability of our data platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement data engineering solutions to support the growth of our Algo Trading business
  • Work with distributed systems to ensure the scalability and reliability of our data platform
  • Collaborate with the team to identify and prioritize technical challenges and opportunities
  • Develop and maintain high-quality code, following best practices and coding standards
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of our codebase
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong experience in software engineering, with a focus on data engineering and distributed systems
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, Java, or Python
  • Experience with data platforms, such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or MongoDB
  • Knowledge of cloud computing platforms, such as AWS or Azure
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
