Postdoc in Biomarker Isotope Geochemistry Specialist

Aarhus University invites applications for a postdoctoral position in isotope geochemistry of biomarkers.

The Department of Geoscience in the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Aarhus University is a leading institution in Earth Sciences, with a strong focus on geoscience research and education. We are seeking an experienced postdoctoral researcher to join our team and contribute to our cutting-edge research projects.

This fixed-term full-time position is part of a DFF-funded Sapere Aude project called BRAINSTORM, which aims to bridge the gap between orbital climate cycles and hominin evolutionary responses using novel leaf wax biomarker methods, machine learning, and evolutionary modeling. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing low-concentration isotope analysis methods and generating high-resolution paleoclimate records.

• PhD degree in Earth Sciences, Geochemistry, Paleoclimate, Chemistry or similar
• Experience with organic geochemistry and biomarkers as proxies for past climate and environment
• Experience with organic isotope analyses, including leaf wax isotopes

The ideal candidate should have good proficiency in English, excellent communication and teamwork skills, and a strong motivation for contributing to a dynamic and international research environment.

• Fixed-term full-time position for 18 months with possibility of extension due to funding and performance
• Competitive salary range: €42,000 - €50,000 per annum
