The Department of Geosciences and Natural Resource Management at the University of Copenhagen is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to investigate urban expansion and associated natural area conversion. The project aims to promote sustainable urban development in African cities.

Key Objectives

  • To develop a comprehensive understanding of urban expansion trends and associated land-use/land cover conversions.
  • To identify drivers and dynamics of land-use transitions in ecologically sensitive areas.
  • To develop effective strategies for promoting sustainable urban development.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Conduct spatial analyses of urban expansion trends and land-use/land cover conversions.
  • Collaborate with the PI and a PhD student to develop and conduct independent research.
  • Contribute to policy discussions on ecologically sensitive areas.
  • Publish research findings in top-tier journals.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in geoinformatics, geography, or related fields.
  • Expertise in GIS, remote sensing, and spatial analysis.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
