Overview

DTU - Technical University of Denmark is seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to contribute to the development of innovative data-driven services for district heating optimization.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in thermodynamics, computational modeling, and experimental testing. The project aims to investigate novel methodologies for improving design procedures and optimizing future operations in 4th generation district heating systems.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Develop and apply advanced computational models for energy systems, focusing on heating and cooling systems.
  • Conduct laboratory activities and field measurement campaigns to collect detailed data for validating innovative data-driven methodologies.
  • Analyze and interpret large datasets, with experience in data processing, interpretation, and visualization.
  • Present results through technical reports and produce scientific papers for publication in international conferences and journals.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, energy engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, hydronic heating and cooling in buildings, domestic water installations.
  • Computational modeling skills in energy systems, preferably for heating and cooling systems (i.e., Modelica, TRNSYS, BSim, etc).
