The postdoctoral researcher will be working on an exciting population genomics project focused on Greenlandic land mammals, including arctic fox, caribou, arctic hare, wolves, and lemmings. The researcher will have the opportunity to analyze several whole genome datasets, which will be ready to be analyzed from day one.
Research EnvironmentThe research group focuses on two research areas: population genomics and medical genomics, and combinations of the two. The group aims to identify genetic variants that play a role in different diseases and traits by developing and applying computational methods to genetic data.
Key Research Areas- Genetic adaptation to different environments and conditions
- Demographic history and its impact on populations
The research group has well-established collaborations with several other research groups nationally and internationally. The group is located in the Biocenter at the University of Copenhagen, which is a highly ranked university.
Qualifications and RequirementsTo be considered, applicants must have a PhD in population genetics/genomics, bioinformatics, or a similar quantitative field. The ideal candidate will have:
- A strong background in population genomics
- Experience in working with genetic data, including high-throughput whole genome DNA sequencing data
- Programming skills in at least one common programming language (e.g. C/C++, Python, or R)
- Experience in working with Linux/Unix and command lines
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Published high-quality international peer-reviewed articles
The position is a 2-year position, and the researcher will be employed by the University of Copenhagen. The terms of employment are in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.
