Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly motivated and skilled postdoctoral researcher to join our interdisciplinary team at the Center for Microbial Secondary Metabolites (CeMiSt). The successful candidate will work closely with Prof. Tilmann Weber and Prof. Ling Ding to investigate the chemical ecology of microbial secondary metabolites in shaping microbial communities.
Responsibilities:- Identify and characterize bioactive metabolites and their biosynthetic gene clusters from actinomycetes isolated from CeMiSt sampling sites.
- Develop, implement, and interpret assays to assess the chemical ecology of these metabolites.
- Survey the available literature and formulate own scientific hypotheses and questions in collaboration with colleagues at CeMiSt.
- Write peer-reviewed scientific publications.
To be successful in this role, you must hold a PhD degree in a relevant field and have strong background in natural products chemistry, molecular biology, and/or genome mining. Documented practical experience with filamentous actinomycetes or other non-model bacteria is beneficial. Excellent oral and written English skills are required.
