Marine Biologist

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated researcher to join our team at DTU Aqua. As a PhD researcher, you will have the opportunity to work on a cutting-edge project focused on climate change and its impact on marine ecosystems.

The PhD scholarship is part of a larger research project that aims to understand the connection between melting sea ice, plankton community structure, food-web productivity, and carbon export in the Arctic. Your research will focus on investigating the interaction between physical environmental factors and the base of the food web in the Arctic.

• Design and conduct experiments to investigate the environmental tolerances of Arctic copepods.
• Analyze existing data and/or lead new data collection to investigate the functional diversity of phyto- and zooplankton.
• Develop a technical aspect covering either improved high throughput quantification and characterization of plankton samples or assessment and synthesis of data collected using models.

• A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree within natural sciences.
• Experience in field or laboratory work within biological oceanography (preferably plankton).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and orally.
