We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated researcher to join our team at DTU Aqua. As a PhD researcher, you will have the opportunity to work on a cutting-edge project focused on climate change and its impact on marine ecosystems.
Job DescriptionThe PhD scholarship is part of a larger research project that aims to understand the connection between melting sea ice, plankton community structure, food-web productivity, and carbon export in the Arctic. Your research will focus on investigating the interaction between physical environmental factors and the base of the food web in the Arctic.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and conduct experiments to investigate the environmental tolerances of Arctic copepods.
- Analyze existing data and/or lead new data collection to investigate the functional diversity of phyto- and zooplankton.
- Develop a technical aspect covering either improved high throughput quantification and characterization of plankton samples or assessment and synthesis of data collected using models.
- A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree within natural sciences.
- Experience in field or laboratory work within biological oceanography (preferably plankton).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and orally.
Benefits
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The period of employment is 3 years. DTU offers a rewarding and challenging job in an international environment.
