About the RoleWe are seeking a highly motivated researcher to join our team as a PhD position in the PROBABILIST project. The successful candidate will contribute to advancing the theory and practice of probabilistic session types, a formal framework for reasoning about correctness, reliability, and expressiveness in distributed systems with probabilistic behaviour.
The PROBABILIST project aims to develop a foundational approach to probabilistic session types, supporting rigorous analysis of properties relevant to concurrent systems with probabilistic behaviour. We seek a candidate with a strong background in formal methods, programming languages, and distributed systems, and experience with proof assistants, type systems, or model checking is an advantage.
The successful candidate will join the Programming, Logic, and Semantics (PLS) research group at the IT University of Copenhagen, a dynamic research team focusing on programming languages, distributed systems, and verification. The project provides opportunities to engage with international researchers and partners.
Required Skills and Qualifications- A Master's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a closely related field.
- Background in formal methods, programming languages, distributed systems, or probabilistic models.
- Experience with proof assistants (e.g., Coq), type systems, or model checking is an advantage.
The successful candidate will be employed and enrolled at the ITU University for a period of 3 or 4 years depending on the university degree level of the applicant. The appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Taxation's agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) and job structure for academic staff at Universities.
