Kongens Lyngby, Lyngby-Tårbæk Kommune, Denmark Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU) Full time

Understanding Climate Change Impact on Marine Life

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join our research team at DTU Aqua, focusing on fish trait-based ecology and life-history. The successful applicant will investigate how climate-induced changes in fish growth strategies affect future trends in fish community biomass and potential catch productivity.

The project aims to understand the complex relationships between fish growth, morphology, and physiology using concepts from trait-based ecology. You will become part of a larger research project with various backgrounds encouraged to apply.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work on topics such as:

  • Fish biogeography: investigating fish growth strategies across marine environments
  • Fish ecology: studying relations between fish growth, morphology, and physiology
  • Ecological modelling: development of a trait-based fish community model

Requirements and Qualifications

We are looking for ecologists/biologists with documented quantitative skills or mathematicians/engineers with a keen interest in marine ecology. Applicants must have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree.

Benefits and Opportunities

DTU is a leading technical university globally recognized for excellence in research, education, innovation, and scientific advice. We offer a rewarding and challenging job in an international environment.

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 3 years.

For further information about the position, please contact Researcher Daniel van Denderen or senior Researcher Martin Lindegren. Applications must be submitted as one PDF file containing all materials to be given consideration.
