About the Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled PhD researcher to join our team at Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU) in the field of advanced machine learning for wind energy. The successful candidate will work on developing and applying machine learning techniques to improve the modeling of wind farm wake aerodynamics, with a focus on fast and accurate simulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and apply advanced machine learning algorithms for dimension reduction, synthetic turbulence generation, and regression modeling of wind farm flows.
  • Investigate and compare different machine learning techniques for accuracy and computational efficiency.
  • Perform detailed validation and error estimation of the models.
  • Provide physical interpretation of the constructed models.
  • Participate in scientific conferences and publish results in scientific journals.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in data science, physics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with machine learning techniques, including neural networks.
  • Ability to work with large data sets.
  • Scientific programming experience, including Python.
  • Understanding of fluid mechanics, turbulence, boundary-layer flows, and/or time series analysis.
  • Clear and concise communication skills in English.
  • Positive attitude, strong drive, critical thinking, and eagerness to learn.

Appointment Terms

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 3 years.
