PhD Project in Synthesis and Structural Characterization of Nanoparticles
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Copenhagen invites applications for a PhD fellowship in synthesis and structural characterization of alloy and oxide nanoparticles for electrocatalysis. The position is part of the CAPeX research center, a pioneering initiative that brings together leading experts from top universities to accelerate P2X materials discovery.
The successful candidate will be responsible for synthesizing and characterizing nanoparticles using X-ray scattering techniques, with a focus on understanding structural changes during synthesis and catalytic reactions. A strong background in materials synthesis and characterization, as well as experience with programming languages such as Python, is required.
The Nanostructure group at the University of Copenhagen offers a dynamic and international research environment with a focus on elucidating atomic and nanoscale structure in materials for energy. As a member of this group, you will have the opportunity to work alongside Associate Professor Kirsten M. Ø. Jensen and other researchers on cutting-edge projects.
The PhD programme is available through either a 3-year full-time study or an integrated MSc and PhD programme lasting up to five years. Depending on your level of education, you can choose the programme that best suits your needs. Both programmes offer a comprehensive curriculum and opportunities for teaching, knowledge dissemination, and research.
To be eligible for the regular PhD programme, you must have completed a degree programme equivalent to a Danish master's degree related to the subject area of the project. For the integrated MSc and PhD programme, you must have an education equivalent to a relevant Danish bachelor's degree.
The successful candidate will receive a salary commensurate with their qualifications and experience, estimated to be around $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on the specific programme and location.
