Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark Københavns Universitet (KU) Full time

The Department of Biology at Københavns Universitet (KU) invites applications for a position as Senior Research Professor in Metagenomics/Microbiomics. The position offers an excellent opportunity to join a vibrant research environment and contribute to the development of cutting-edge bioinformatics tools for analyzing metagenomes obtained from human and environmental samples.

As a Senior Research Professor, you will be responsible for leading research initiatives and securing external funding. You will also be expected to teach and supervise students at undergraduate, graduate, and PhD levels, with primary course assignments in bioinformatics and biology degree programs.

You will have the opportunity to collaborate with other researchers within the department and explore interdisciplinary collaboration with industry and public research institutions when such interactions provide synergistic benefits.

We are seeking a dedicated and innovative researcher with a strong background in metagenomics/microbiomics, particularly in the analysis of large datasets and/or the development of new tools for this type of analysis.

Candidates should have demonstrated the ability to perform independent, original, and hypothesis-driven research at a high international level. Complementarity to current research at the sections is essential.

Apart from your academic achievements, we value candidates with excellent communication skills, who can effectively disseminate their research findings to both scientific peers and the general public.

The selected candidate will join either the Section for Computational & RNA Biology or the Section for Microbiology, depending on the specific profile of the candidate.

With approximately 450 academic and technical staff members, the Department of Biology offers a friendly and thriving international research and working environment with opportunities to build internationally competitive research groups.

We offer an attractive salary package, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Based on national Danish standards and similar positions within Denmark, the estimated monthly salary is around DKK 83,900 before taxes. Benefits include access to state-of-the-art facilities, generous parental leave policies, and opportunities for professional development.

We encourage women and other underrepresented groups to apply, as we are committed to diversifying our faculty and promoting an inclusive environment.
