Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral researcher to join our team as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Enlightenment Studies. The successful candidate will contribute to an ERC-funded project focused on women's intellectual contributions to the Nordic Enlightenment. This project aims to bring to light and critically assess women's writings from the 17th and 18th centuries that reflect on their intellectual capacities and defend their equality with men.

Key Responsibilities:

">
  • Conduct independent research and participate in collaborative projects within the framework of the WHENCE project;
  • Investigate and analyze historical texts, including manuscripts and published works, to identify and contextualize women's arguments in favour of intellectual equality;
  • Develop a comprehensive research plan to explore the philosophical traditions influencing women's perspectives on intellectual equality;
  • Collaborate with project partners and participate in international conferences, workshops, and other academic events;
  • Prepare and publish high-quality research outputs, including peer-reviewed articles and book chapters;
  • Promote the project and its outcomes through presentations, talks, and other outreach activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

">
  • A PhD in Philosophy, History, Literature, or a related field;
  • Expertise in the history of philosophy, particularly in the context of the Nordic Enlightenment;
  • High proficiency in English, both written and spoken;
  • Familiarity with feminist history of philosophy, Scandinavian intellectual history, or related areas;
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
