Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented PhD candidate to join our team at the Department of Biology. The successful candidate will work on a three-year project investigating motor control and biomechanics of sound production across vertebrates.

Responsibilities

  • ">
  • Conduct experimental and computational research on motor control and biomechanics of sound production">
  • Analyze data using advanced signal analysis techniques">
  • Develop new methods for studying vocal organ physiology">
  • Collaborate with researchers from various disciplines, including neuroscience, bioacoustics, and biomechanics">
  • Participate in dissemination of science and teaching">
  • Carry out an external research stay">
  • Complete a PhD thesis and publicly defend it">
  • Maintain excellent written and oral English language communication skills">
  • Work effectively in an interdisciplinary environment">

Requirements

  • ">
  • A Master's degree in biology or engineering, preferably with a background in neuroscience, bioacoustics, or biomechanics">
  • Experience in signal analysis and programming (Python, R, Matlab, or equivalent)">
  • Excellent written and oral English language communication skills">
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills">
  • Interest in working in an interdisciplinary environment paired with excellent social skills">
  • Availability to start on 1 November 2024 or soon thereafter">
  • Duration of three years">
