About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Systems and Components Engineer to join our team at Vattenfall. As a key member of our Engineering organization, you will play a critical role in supporting the operational control of our Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) and contributing to the development of best practices in the industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist and support the Engineering organization with operational control of WTGs, both Electrical and Mechanical.
  • Build up knowledge on Electrical and Mechanical topics, create and deploy best practices for the industry.
  • Support throughout the lifetime of our WTGs, including assessment of technical solutions, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and technical integrity of components and systems.
  • Provide technical and project-based expertise into the business, with extensive experience in the electrical design of modern wind turbines and wind farm systems.
  • Support the O&M organization with technical expertise from commissioning to end of warranty to decommissioning of the windfarm.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis and Risk Assessments.
  • Investigate predictive maintenance strategies for WTG electrical systems using FMECA.
  • Support projects during the Technical Due Diligence and contract phase.
  • Support interface management during construction phase of electrical installations in on- and offshore wind farms.
  • Establish relationships with internal stakeholders like operation and maintenance, project managers, and suppliers.
  • Prepare technical requirements for projects and clarify them during the preparation of contract documents.
  • Review design documentation from suppliers and contractors to ensure that projects are completed according to specifications.
  • Develop power system protection philosophy for WTGs and networks.
  • Be active in machine interface learning for WTGs and wind farms.
  • Prepare and update technical documentation.
Requirements
  • M. Sc. in Electrical Engineering or comparable.
  • Broad-based theoretical knowledge and practical foundation.
  • Required knowledge/experience in:
  • WTG Frequency Converter Technology.
  • Wind industry project engineering.
  • Troubleshooting within components and complex mechatronic systems.
  • Preferred knowledge/experience in:
  • Offshore wind industry with its state-of-the-art technology.
  • Debugging of fault events on WTG and park level.
  • Python, Matlab Simulink, or comparable data analysis tools.
  • Basic knowledge in the following topics is welcome but not required:
  • EMR, EMC, Lightning, and Bonding.
  • HV 66 kV/132 kV WTG power equipment as switchgear and cable between trafo and switchgear.
  • Open mindset for exploring unknown areas.
  • Min 5 to 10 years of professional experience in this respective industry.
  • Teamwork and communication skills for close cooperation with various departments in an international environment.
  • Good language skills, both writing and oral, in English. Other language skills, such as Danish, German, or Swedish, are beneficial.
  • Flexible approach to travel for visiting OEMs and turbine inspections at site or workshop.
