Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled student assistant to join our team at the Department of Environmental Sciences at Aarhus University. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and operation of bioinformatics pipelines and data management routines in a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment.

Main Responsibilities
  • Quality control of data in collaboration with researchers
  • Maintenance of current bioinformatics pipelines
  • Development of automated pipelines for analysis of sequencing data from different sequencing platforms
  • Assistance in setting up a data management plan
Requirements
  • Interest in molecular microbial ecology and/or molecular evolution
  • Experience in statistical methods for molecular microbial ecology
  • Experience with relational databases
  • Knowledge of programming in R, Python3, or other languages
  • Experience with workflow management systems such as Snakemake and Nextflow, and GitHub and GitHub Actions
  • English is the project language, but knowledge of Danish is an advantage
  • Motivation to work in a highly dynamic environment

The Department of Environmental Science is an interdisciplinary department under the Faculty of Technical Sciences at Aarhus University.
