We are Playdead, an independent game development company based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Our team of over 70 creative professionals is dedicated to crafting unique gaming experiences. We are currently working on a 3rd-person science fiction adventure featuring realistic yet stylized graphics.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing high-quality textures and materials in Unreal Engine. This involves hand-painting key textures, establishing material workflows, and collaborating with the art team and other departments to ensure visual consistency.
Main Responsibilities:
- Design and create high-quality textures for various organic and structural surfaces
- Author and enhance Materials in Unreal Engine for production use
- Unwrap and texture 3D assets
- Evaluate material and texture performance and provide solutions to optimize and meet project requirements
- Collaborate with artists, designers, and programmers to resolve difficulties and find creative solutions
Requirements:
- Professional experience in 3D game production, working with materials & textures using major game engines
- Exceptional digital painting skills and artistic sensibility
- Experience with texture creation tools such as Substance Designer/Painter, ZBrush, 3D Modelling Tools & Adobe Creative Cloud
- Great communication skills and ability to work effectively on shared projects
