Job Description

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring financial stability, and supporting strategic growth initiatives. This includes developing and implementing the company's financial strategy, aligning with overall business goals, and providing strategic recommendations to the CEO and executive team based on financial analysis and projections.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, with specific experience in securing and managing investments and overseeing large-scale construction projects, preferably within the food or biotechnology industries. They should possess excellent analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills, as well as exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Financial Strategy and Planning:
  • Develop and implement the company's financial strategy, aligning with overall business goals.
  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and executive team based on financial analysis and projections.
  • Manage financial risk and develop strategies to mitigate potential issues.
Financial Operations and Management:
  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, payroll, tax, and treasury functions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and maintain robust financial controls and procedures.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, banks, and financial institutions.
Investment and Fundraising:
  • Develop and execute strategies for securing investment and funding to support the company's ambitious growth strategy.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to prepare financial models, forecasts, and business plans for potential investors.
  • Prepare and support in the presentation of financial information to potential investors and stakeholders.
  • Support in the management of relationships with investors, venture capitalists, and other financial partners.
  • Take full accountability in the due diligence process and ensure compliance with investment agreements.
Strategic Projects and Initiatives:
  • Support and oversee major strategic projects, including new product launches, market expansion, and M&A activities.
  • Provide financial insights and guidance for key business decisions.
  • Ensure financial aspects of projects are well-managed and aligned with company goals.
Financial Project Management:
  • Oversee the financial aspects of the construction of a new manufacturing site, ensuring the project stays within budget and on schedule.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
  • Work closely with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure financial efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Implement financial controls and risk management strategies for the project.
  • Monitor and report on project financial performance, identifying and addressing any financial issues or discrepancies.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Proven experience as a CFO or in a senior financial leadership role, preferably within the food or biotechnology industries.
  • Demonstrated success in securing and managing investments, including Series A, B, and C funding.
  • Extensive experience in financial project management, particularly in overseeing large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations, standards, and compliance.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with investors and stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
