About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Data Steward to join our team at Novo Nordisk. As a Research Data Steward, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and consistency of our data, driving data governance and management, and collaborating with stakeholders to address data quality and consistency issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement data management plans for specific domains, ensuring adherence to data quality and governance policies.
  • Collaborate with data owners and analysts to identify and address data quality or consistency issues, driving change management to influence the adoption of standardized vocabulary.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders across the company, providing training and support on data management processes and best practices.
  • Drive the adoption of FAIR principles and data management best practices, popularizing the use of controlled vocabularies and ontologies.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in data format standards, ETL processes, and data governance, ensuring the quality and consistency of data across the organization.
Requirements
  • MSc degree in life sciences or a related field, with 5 years of experience in biological or chemical data management.
  • Knowledge of data format standards, understanding of FAIR principles, and exposure to biomedical vocabularies and taxonomies.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language, with a preference for Python, and experience with cloud platforms AWS, MS Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience with (meta)data management of heterogeneous datasets, ETL processes, data governance, and stewardship.
  • Understanding of proteins and protein structures, and small molecules and their properties.

The Research Data Management department aims to simplify the process of data capture in early research using semantic models to establish interoperability across data sets. The department plays a key role in the intersection between research scientists, application developers, and data modelers, ensuring the quality and consistency of data being generated.
